B.I.G. Needle Felt Division announces intention to centralize finishing activities in Kruisem
Beaulieu International Group (B.I.G.) today announced its intention to centralize all finishing activities (ovens & related warehousing activities) of its Needle Felt division at the Kruisem site, while production activities will continue at both sites in Kruisem and Oostrozebeke. This plan is part of a long-term strategy to adapt to changing market conditions while securing the future of the division and reinforcing its strong position in the global flooring industry.
The needle felt market is facing a trend of declining volumes, while B.I.G. continues to invest in more sustainable and efficient technologies such as the recently installed Thermoconsolidation line and the Rewind® concept. These innovations have created additional free capacity, but they also mean that some traditional ovens and finishing lines at the Needle Felt site in Oostrozebeke are underutilized.
To ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and competitiveness in the long term, B.I.G. intends to gradually consolidate all finishing activities in Kruisem in two phases, with completion foreseen by December 2026.
Phase 1: 35 employees impacted (34 workers and 1 office staff)
Phase 2: 41 employees impacted (37 workers and 4 office staff)
Around 30 new vacancies are expected to be created at Kruisem to support the transition.

Transparency, dialogue, and respect for all involved
B.I.G. recognizes that this intention has a direct impact on employees and their families. This morning, the plan was shared with union representatives during a special works council meeting. As always, B.I.G. is committed to conducting this process with full transparency, dialogue, and respect for every individual involved.
“We are proud of the firm position of our Needle Felt division today,” said Jean-Baptiste De Ruyck, CEO. “But to remain successful in the years ahead, we must adapt our operations to market realities. We understand the impact this has on our colleagues, and we will approach this process carefully, with respect and support. At the same time, centralizing the finishing activities in Kruisem will strengthen our service to customers and help safeguard the long-term future of the division.”
By consolidating the finishing activities, B.I.G. can simplify logistics for customers, and further solidify its market position, while continuing to contribute to employment and innovation in the region.
The needle felt production activities in Oostrozebeke will not be affected by this announcement of intent.
